Haapsalu College of Tallinn University offers a one-week course in digital photography. During the week, participants will learn the basics of digital photography through practical examples and hands-on training with participation in workshops. The course also includes an introduction to the most common photographic programmes, photo editing, preparations for large format printing and preparations for a photo exhibition. The materials include simple and illustrated instructions with additional links to more thorough resources for deeper study.

Dating from 1279, Haapsalu is a beautiful historical seaside town on the Western coast of Estonia. The region surrounding it, Läänemaa, is famous for its unique nature and bird watching traditions (many migrant routes pass through the area). The workshops will take place both in town and in the settings of the beautiful local nature.

Each participant will need to bring a digital camera with an adjustable shutter and aperture priority. The preferred camera is a digital Single-Lens Reflex Camera (SLR). For computer workshops local Mac and PC laboratories are used.

The course will be supervised by Aimar Lints, multimedia lecturer in Haapsalu College.

Participants

No thorough knowledge of digital photography is required for course participation. The course is suitable for anybody interested in digital photography. During the course each participant will put together a portfolio of photographs taken and processed during the week, which will be used in the exhibition at the end of the course. Each participant will receive a diploma of completion (with 3 ECTS) and the portfolio. The course is limited to 15 participants.
